The National Union of Eggon Students (NUES), University of Jos Chapter, marked a historic milestone on 1 August 2026 with the successful launch of the 9th Edition of the Ayimoh Magazine during its 2026 Cultural Day celebration.
The event brought together Eggon sons and daughters from across different walks of life, including students, academics, community leaders, distinguished personalities, and friends of the Eggon Nation. It was a vibrant celebration of culture, identity, unity, and the shared vision for the progress of the Eggon people.
Organised by dedicated Eggon students of the University of Jos, the celebration reflected the commitment of the younger generation to preserving their cultural heritage while promoting unity and development within the community.
A Magazine with a Purpose
The newly launched 9th Edition of Ayimoh Magazine is themed “Eggon Kyen Kyen: A Call for Unity and Progress.” The publication was thoughtfully produced to inspire peace, mutual understanding, unity, and sustainable development among Eggon people.
This edition features insightful articles and exclusive interviews with respected Eggon stakeholders from Nasarawa State and members of the Eggon community residing in Plateau State. Contributors examined the factors affecting unity within the Eggon Nation, discussed both the opportunities and challenges facing the community, and proposed practical solutions aimed at strengthening cooperation and collective advancement.
The theme, “Eggon Kyen Kyen,” serves as a timely reminder that the future of the Eggon Nation depends on its ability to remain united, celebrate its rich cultural heritage, and work collectively toward sustainable growth and development.

The occasion was honoured by the presence of several distinguished guests and community leaders, including:

The celebration also witnessed a strong turnout from members of the Eggon community in the University of Jos, who joined students in showcasing the beauty of Eggon culture through traditional dances, colourful attire, music, and other cultural displays.
Students from various ethnic and cultural associations across the University of Jos also participated, highlighting the institution’s spirit of peaceful coexistence, cultural appreciation, and mutual respect among diverse communities.
Also in attendance was Comr. Maku Akwashiki, President of the Nasarawa State Students Association (NASSA), alongside members of his executive cabinet, adding further significance to the memorable occasion.
A Celebration of Heritage and Unity
Speaking on behalf of the union, the leadership of NUES, University of Jos Chapter, led by Comr. Oble David Anthony, expressed profound appreciation to the lecturers, community leaders, patrons, members of the Eggon community in Plateau State, students, and well-wishers whose support contributed to the success of the event.
The colourful cultural performances, traditional music, vibrant attire, and enthusiastic participation from guests created an atmosphere that celebrated the richness of Eggon heritage while inspiring pride among the younger generation.
Beyond the festivities, the launch of the 9th Edition of Ayimoh Magazine represents a renewed call for all Eggon sons and daughters to strengthen the bonds of unity, promote peace, embrace one another despite differences, and work together for the continued progress and development of the Eggon Nation.
As the celebration concluded, one message resonated throughout the gathering: preserving culture is not only about honouring the past but also about building a stronger and more united future.
